The Heritage Trail to Peel

The Heritage Trail to Peel

The Heritage trail runs alongside the main Douglas to Peel road traversing the Central Valley. The trail used to be the route of the steam railway before it was decommissioned in the late 1960’s and it is now used by walkers and cyclists as a scenic path through pasture and wetlands. Peel, the most Manx of towns was at the centre of the herring industry and Moore’s Traditional Smokehouse is worth a visit. Other attractions are the House of Manannan, Peel Castle and the Leece Museum in Peel or the Tynwald Museum and Tynwald Hill at St Johns. Return the same way or take an alternative route back to Douglas via Foxdale.
