Castletown – the Ancient Capital

Castletown – the Ancient Capital

From the Sea Terminal travel out along the South Quay to the Douglas Head road to the stunning cliff top hugging Marine Drive on the route south to Castletown. Follow the Marine Drive to Port Soderick before joining the Old Castletown Road. This eventually links up with the main Castletown road through Ballasalla onto Castletown the ancient capital of the Isle of Man which is dominated by the magnificently preserved Castle Rushen. The town has many other attractions or perhaps relax by the quayside at the Castle Arms – better known locally as “the Gluepot” as it is quite easy to remain stuck there!. Return the way you came or through the centre of the island via St Marks.
